Target HR is a human resource consulting firm currently seeking applicants for the position of an Accountant on behalf of our client. Our client is a leading fiber infrastructure technology company that invests in open-access broadband-enabling infrastructure throughout Africa. By optimizing service delivery for Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), Our client brings high-quality broadband connectivity. Our collaborative approach involves working closely with partners to establish robust networks, customized based on market needs, to ensure efficient and affordable access to world-class connectivity.

Role Summary

The Accountant is expected to support the business on all finance-related and operational matters and will be a critical support to the Finance Lead. This role is essential to provide support to the Finance Lead and be a solid backup. The Senior Accountant will provide financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data and preparing reports. This role is based in Monrovia, Liberia.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Financial Accounting and Reporting
    • Ensuring all financial transactions are recorded in line with applicable GAAP and company policy.
    • Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
    • Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statements, and other reports.
    • Prepare narratives on the month’s performance compared to the prior month and the budget; YTD performance versus the YTD budget and the prior year
    • Ensure comprehensive reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, including: Cash reconciliation, Payables ageing (incl vendor credit balances), Receivables ageing (incl. customer credit balances), Inventory ageing, PPE movements, Staff accounts (travel advances, due from employees, etc.)
    • Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
    • Secure financial information by completing database backups.
  • Tax Affairs and Audits Management
    • Manage Tax Affairs and Audits.
    • Ensure all tax returns are submitted on time as regulated, and the minimum tax payable.
    • Ensure timely submission of annual audited year-end packs.
    • Clean audit reports and favorable internal audit reports.
    • Ensure internal and external audits are carried out effectively at the least possible audit cost.
  • Treasury Management
    • Ensures an optimal level of cash at the bank is maintained.
    • Monitors and controls the flow of cash receipts and disbursements.
  • Supplier and Inventory Management
    • Coordinates vendor setup process and payment management.
    • Monitor and track all inbound and outbound inventory.
    • Raises purchase orders for vendors.
    • Acts as a point of contact on vendor issues.
    • Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
    • Ensures timely dispatch of vendor withholding tax certificates.
  • CAPEX Management
    • Monitors CAPEX expenditures and ensures adequate recording and reporting.
    • Coordinates the annual asset management processes, such as verification.
  • Billing and Receivables Management
    • Reviews aging reports and advises on the matching of payments to invoices.
    • Ensures correct application of payments, withholding, credits, etc., updates withholding tax trix.
    • Ensures adherence to client’s collections.

Requirements

  • BSc/BA in Accounting/Finance, and must be a qualified accountant (CA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in reporting & financial management.
  • Hands-on experience in IFRS and OHADA reporting.
  • Proficiency in ODOO ERP accounting software.
  • Demonstrates advanced accounting, corporate finance, and reporting skills
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and be deadline-oriented.
  • Exhibits excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Knowledgeable of the general regulatory norms of the telecom sector.
  • Possesses exceptional organizational skills and the ability to carry out multiple and intricate tasks.
  • Fluency in French is an added advantage.
