Summary: The U.S. Embassy Monrovia in Liberia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Clerk (Security Escort) within the Facilities Management Section. Supervisory Position: No Relocation Expenses Reimbursed: No Travel Required: Not Required

Duties:

Employees provide security escorts for all uncleared personnel inside the Chancery Controlled Access Area (CAA) and other sensitive areas within the Embassy compound (NEC). Employee serves as a classified pouch Courier Escort and performs administrative duties for the Facility Manager (FM). The incumbent must obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance. Directly supervised by the Facility Manager; supervision may be delegated to other Embassy offices for specific works. Other than general oversight of workers during escorting, no direct supervision is exercised.

Security Escort Duties:

  • 70% of time Serve as escort for uncleared work crew in the CAA, sensitive areas, and areas contiguous to the CAA.
  • Ensure that individuals entering the CAA have been properly screened prior to entering.
  • Ensure that non-essential, and electronic, items are not taken into the CAA.
  • Ensure that escorted individuals do not leave any materials/tools/devices behind when work is completed and do not remove unauthorized material when they depart.
  • Ensure that escorted individuals always remain together so they can be observed at all times in the CAA.
  • Maintain direct line-of-sight contact with all escorted visitors while in the CAA.
  • Ensure that workers needing a break are escorted from the CAA and all leave as a group.
  • Provide escorting as governed by RSO.

Administrative duties:

  • 20% of time Provide office management support for Embassy sections in the CAA whose office managers are on leave or absent from duty.
  • Assist with the establishment and data input for FM databases.
  • Assist the FAC Work Order clerk with administrative work, including filing, database entry, and record keeping.

Other duties:

  • 10% of time Perform a variety of other functions such as courier escort duties, classified administrative support, and safety inspections.

Note: This position description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the incumbent. The incumbent will be required to perform other duties as assigned by the Facility Manager.

Qualifications and Evaluations:

Requirements:

  • Selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a: Top Secret clearance.
  • Selected candidate will be subject to a background investigation, if applicable.
  • Selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time upon receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Education Requirements:

  • Completion of Secondary School is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency with basic office software (Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel), data entry, record keeping, and experience handling telephone correspondence.
  • A working understanding of physical security procedures, access control systems, and visitor management processes is essential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others; good user skills with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook software applications.
  • Must be observant, flexible and service oriented.
  • Duties include prolonged periods of standing/walking and somewhat physically demanding activities to include climbing, working in cramped spaces and at times working in inclement weather.
