Duties: The position is responsible to provide administrative and technical support for the Diplomatic Technology Office (DTO). The incumbent is the primary Computer LAN Assistant of Mission Monrovia Information Systems Center's customer service desk for automated data processing trouble tickets, Smart phones setup and technical support for mobile computing. The Computer Local Area Network (LAN) Assistant deploys new OpenNet Workstations at users' desktop in addition to updating custom applications and upgrading client computer operating systems. He/she administers active directory, 0365 exchange mailboxes, Information Systems Center (ISC) Non-Enterprise Network (NENs) connection and the Enterprise Wi-Fi systems. The incumbent also supports Information technology requirements to ensure that post meets the Department of State (DOS) computer security standards as set forth by the Department and Diplomatic Security (DS) offices. This includes proper handling and protection of passwords, computer components, and hardware/software asset in addition to laptop. This position also interacts on a daily basis with users across multiple agencies and mission's ICASS subscriber. The incumbent reports to the Computer Systems Manager (CSM) in the Information Systems Center (ISC) branch of the Information Management Office section (IM) of the Mission. Position has no supervisory responsibilities. A. System Administration 40% Incumbent serves as ISC's primary Computer LAN Assistant and help desk operator to provide support to number of agencies under ICASS. The Jobholder solves and corrects software and hardware related calls, and he/she creates new windows desktop operating system image with the based S-OE applications to deploy to users' work area. With a pool of 280 client workstations on hand, he/she also tests and troubleshoots IT peripherals connected to the mission network infrastructure. Position monitors and verifies using AVAMAR admin console of all ISC's daily, weekly, and monthly backup sets and schedule to ensure that they are current and running. Position also maintains visitors, operations and maintenances security physical logbooks for the Chancery's server room and remote locations. Position monitors the server room main UPS's battery life and the temperature control devices. The jobholder creates and provisions user account for newly hired local staff and Direct Hire (DH) transferred employees, and TDYers. He/she will ensure that each user belongs to the correct and proper security groups and email distribution lists. The incumbent creates each user profile with access to file storage location on local servers and SharePoint sites; role based shared sections' folder and network printer. Position also creates myServices, SAFE, WinTA and e2Travel accounts for Post users, ensuring that each user uses the correct ICASS code per Financial Management Center (FMC) guidance. B. Customer Service and Help Desk Support 40% OF TIME The Computer LAN Assistant serves as ISC's main helpdesk operator, handles online, walk-in, and telephone calls. Position responds to service requests and ensures that the customer service's helpdesk is staffed at all times. Position disseminates and dispatches computer trouble problems, smartphone configuration and malfunction support requests that mission users submit via myServices to available Computer Systems Analysts and Engineers. Position ensures timely resolution and fixture of users' problems received thru online support center. He/she also ensures that resolved support requests are marked closed in accordance with Post's Diplomatic Technology Office (DTO) ICASS's service provider standards. C. Network Monitoring and Asset Management 20% OF TIME The Computer LAN Assistant proactively monitors OpenNet for vulnerabilities and security compliance. Position handles requirement to ensure that Post meet DOS computer security standards as set forth by the Department in the FAM/FAH and Diplomatic Security (DS) guidelines. Security includes proper handling and protection of passwords; computer components and hardware/software asset install and removal. The Incumbent works with PAT tool to upgrade and comply with DS guidelines and IRM approved security standard for operating systems, Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and hardware firmware by deploying patches and hotfixes to each server and client workstation component.
