Supervision of Maintenance Activities

Supervise day-to-day locomotive maintenance and repair work.

Ensure adherence to maintenance plans, schedules, and standards.

Coordinate workshop activities and workforce allocation.

Technical Execution

Provide hands-on technical support for complex locomotive issues.

Ensure proper diagnostics, repair, and testing of locomotives.

Apply OEM standards and engineering practices.

Planning & Coordination

Assist in maintenance planning and scheduling.

Coordinate with operations to minimize equipment downtime.

Quality Assurance

Ensure all maintenance work meets quality and safety standards.

Perform inspections and authorize return-to-service decisions.

Team Leadership

Supervise technicians and artisans.

Provide coaching, mentoring, and skills development.

Support localization and skill transfer initiatives.

Safety & Compliance

Enforce safe working procedures and use of PPE.

Conduct toolbox talks and risk assessments.

Inventory & Resource Management

Ensure availability of tools, spares, and consumables.

Monitor usage and prevent wastage.

Reporting

Maintain maintenance records and reports.

Track equipment performance and maintenance KPIs.

Qualifications / Experience / Technical Knowledge:

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field (preferred)
• Technical certification in locomotive or rolling stock maintenance (advantage)

Experience

• 8–12 years in rolling stock or heavy equipment maintenance
• 3–5 years in a leadership or supervisory role
• Experience in expatriate or remote environments (advantage)
• Proven experience with diesel-electric locomotives
