LR_Operator - Sampling (400530)

Duties and Responsibilities / KPI’s

1. Operate automatic and manual sampling equipment to collect ore sample from conveyors, stockpiles, crushers, and processing units.

1.1. Ensure proper labeling, storage, and transportation of collected samples to the laboratory.

1.2. Follow standardized sampling procedures to maintain consistency and accuracy.

2. Operate and Monitor sampling devices, including Mechanical samplers, splitters, and sample preparation tools.

2.1. Perform routine checks and preventive maintenance on sampling equipment

2.2. Identify and report equipment malfunctions to the maintenance team.

3. Perform basic maintenance and cleaning tasks on the samplers, including washing filter, inspecting for wear, and ensuring the system is free of obstructions.

3.1. Ensure the sampling is inspected regularly and associated components are cleaned according to the plant’s maintenance schedule.

3.2. Report any issues or need for repairs to the maintenance team, ensuring minimal downtime.

4. Clean equipment and working area regularly for any spillage

5. Ensure all samplers meet the required specifications and are collected in accordance with industry standards and company protocols.

5.1. Maintain accurate logs and records of sample collection, test result and operational observations.

5.2. Collaborate with the metallurgical and laboratory team to ensure proper analysis and reporting

6. Adhere to workplace safety regulations and always wear personal protective equipment (PPE).

6.1. Follow environmental policies to minimize contamination and waste.

6.2. Report all safety hazards, spills, or irregularities immediately.

7. Work closely with plant operators, metallurgical quality controls personnel, and laboratory staff.

7.1. Communication sampling schedules, results, and any issues encountered during operations.

7.2. Participate in safety and Operational training sessions.

Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mineral processing, metallurgy, or a related field is a plus.
• Experience in ore sampling, mineral processing, or a similar industrial environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with sampling techniques, laboratory procedures, and quality control standards.
• Ability to operate and maintain mechanical sampling equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
• Physically fit and capable of working in harsh environments (e.g., exposure to dust, heat, noise, and heavy machinery) and manually handling sampling equipment (lifting, moving).
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
