Duties and Responsibilities / KPI’s
Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on electrical systems associated with Port MPQ equipment, including conveyors, stackers, reclaimers, ship loaders, and auxiliary systems.
- Inspect, test, maintain, and repair electrical components such as motors, control panels, MCCs, cables, sensors, and field devices.
- Execute maintenance tasks in accordance with OEM specifications, engineering standards, and maintenance procedures.
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed efficiently and within required timelines to minimize operational disruptions.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical faults using systematic troubleshooting techniques.
- Identify root causes of recurring electrical issues and support implementation of corrective actions.
- Work closely with Electrical Engineers and SCADA specialists to resolve complex electrical and control system issues.
- Maintain clear records of faults, repairs, and corrective actions taken.
- Install, connect, and test electrical equipment, wiring systems, and control devices.
- Support commissioning activities by conducting loop checks, functional tests, and verification of electrical systems.
- Assist in system energization and ensure safe startup of electrical equipment.
- Verify correct installation of new or modified electrical systems.
- Monitor condition and performance of electrical equipment to detect early signs of failure.
- Participate in predictive maintenance activities such as thermography and condition monitoring.
- Ensure electrical systems operate at optimal performance levels, minimizing downtime and improving efficiency.
- Provide feedback to engineers on equipment performance and reliability issues.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with company standards, electrical codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Follow approved electrical procedures, wiring standards, and safety guidelines.
- Maintain high-quality workmanship and ensure installations meet required quality benchmarks.
- Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of electrical tools and test equipment.
- Identify and report requirements for spare parts and consumables.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory of electrical materials and components.
- Record all maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs in the maintenance management system (e.g., SAP).
- Update equipment records, maintenance logs, and work orders accurately.
- Provide feedback for improvement of maintenance procedures and documentation.
- Perform all electrical work in strict compliance with HSE policies and procedures.
- Apply lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and ensure proper isolation of electrical systems before work.
- Identify electrical hazards and take appropriate corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety inspections, and risk assessments.
- Promote a zero-harm culture and ensure safe working practices at all times.
- Work collaboratively with electricians, engineers, mechanical teams, and operators to support operations.
- Assist and mentor junior technicians and local workforce where required.
- Support team objectives and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
- Identify opportunities to improve maintenance efficiency and equipment reliability.
- Suggest improvements to electrical systems, processes, and working methods.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of best practices.

Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge
Electrical Trade Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in electrical maintenance within mining, ports, or heavy industrial environments
- Experience with bulk material handling equipment and industrial electrical systems preferred
Technical Knowledge
- Electrical systems maintenance and fault diagnosis
- Motors, MCCs, control panels, and field instrumentation
- Basic PLC interface understanding (advantageous)
- Electrical wiring, installation, and testing
- Preventive and predictive maintenance techniques
- Electrical safety and isolation procedures

- Follow established safe work practices and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, or illnesses.
- Operate machinery, tools, and equipment safely, following manufacturer's instructions and the AML safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and orderly workspace to reduce hazards and prevent accidents.
- Promote a culture of health and safety awareness among coworkers by encouraging safe behaviors and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Participate in health and safety committees or meetings as required, providing input and suggestions for improving workplace safety.
- Keep accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities as required by company policy and regulations.
Environment
- Oversee and monitor the environmental performance of your department's functions, ensuring high levels of awareness and compliance with company environmental policies and relevant environmental laws.
- Regularly review environmental performance metrics and indicators to track progress, identify trends, and address areas for improvement.
- Ensure all environmental incidents are reported promptly and investigated thoroughly in line with company policies and legal requirements.
- Uphold a culture of environmental responsibility and compliance within the organization by setting clear expectations for incident reporting and response at all levels.
- Collaborate with the Environment team to identify opportunities for environmental improvement and develop strategic programs to enhance sustainability practices.
