Duties and Responsibilities / KPI’s
1. Maintain and operate LV and HV electrical distribution systems.
1.1. Monitor system performance to ensure reliability and efficiency.
1.2. Ensure proper functioning of transformers, switchgear, and substations.
2. Diagnose and repair faults in LV/HV systems and associated equipment
2.1. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical infrastructure.
2.2. Respond promptly to power failures and electrical breakdowns.
2.3. Conduct testing, inspection, and calibration of electrical equipment.
3. Ensure stable and continuous power supply to plant operations.
3.1. Analyze system loads and performance to prevent overloads or failures.
3.2. Support load balancing and power optimization activities.
4. Ensure all electrical work complies with safety standards and regulations.
4.1. Enforce lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) and isolation procedures
4.2. Conduct risk assessments for electrical maintenance activities.
4.3. Support incident investigations related to electrical systems.
5. Maintain substations, circuit breakers, panels, transformers, and cabling systems.
5.1. Inspect and maintain earthing and grounding systems.
5.2. Ensure proper protection systems (relays, breakers) are functioning correctly.
6. Participate in installation, commissioning, and upgrades of electrical systems.
6.1. Assist in design reviews and equipment selection for new projects.
6.2. Coordinate with contractors and vendors on electrical works.
7. Maintain accurate electrical drawings, schematics, and system documentation
7.1. Record maintenance activities, failures, and corrective actions.
7.2. Prepare technical reports and system performance updates.
8. Work closely with Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering teams.
8.1. Provide technical support to electricians and plant personnel.
8.2. Liaise with vendors and service providers.
9. Train staff on safe operation and maintenance of LV/HV systems
9.1. Develop SOPs and maintenance procedures.
9.2. Promote best practices in electrical safety and operations.
10. Ensure adherence to company engineering standards and regulatory requirements
10.1. Support electrical audits and inspections.
10.2. Follow change management procedures for modifications.
11. Comply with all HSE policies and procedures.
11.1. Identify and mitigate electrical hazards.
11.2. Promote a strong safety culture within the team.
11.3. Support environmental compliance in electrical operations.
12. Electrical system uptime and reliability.
12.1. Number of electrical faults and system failures.
12.2. Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).

Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge
1. Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field.
2. Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in LV/HV electrical systems maintenance.
2.1. Experience in mining, processing plants, or heavy industry (preferred).
2.2. Proven experience with electrical distribution systems and substations.
3. LV/HV power systems and distribution networks
3.1. Transformers, switchgear, and substations.
3.2. Electrical protection systems and relays.
3.3. Cable systems and installation standards.
3.4. Earthing and grounding systems.
3.5. Electrical safety standards and regulations.

1.4. Wear appropriate PPE as required for specific tasks or environments and ensure that it is maintained and used correctly.
1.5. Be familiar with emergency response procedures, including evacuation routes, assembly points, and first aid protocols.
1.6. Follow established safe work practices and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, or illnesses.
1.7. Operate machinery, tools, and equipment safely, following manufacturer's instructions and the AML safety guidelines.
1.8. Maintain a clean and orderly workspace to reduce hazards and prevent accidents.
1.9. Promote a culture of health and safety awareness among coworkers by encouraging safe behaviors and reporting unsafe conditions.
1.9.1. Participate in health and safety committees or meetings as required, providing input and suggestions for improving workplace safety.
1.9.2. Keep accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities as required by company policy and regulations.

1. Oversee and monitor the environmental performance of your department's functions, ensuring high levels of awareness and compliance with company environmental policies and relevant environmental laws.
1.1. Regularly review environmental performance metrics and indicators to track progress, identify trends, and address areas for improvement.
1.2. Ensure all environmental incidents are reported promptly and investigated thoroughly in line with company policies and legal requirements.
1.3. Uphold a culture of environmental responsibility and compliance within the organization by setting clear expectations for incident reporting and response at all levels.
1.4. Collaborate with the Environment team to identify opportunities for environmental improvement and develop strategic programs to enhance sustainability practices.
