Duties and Responsibilities / KPI’s
Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on hydraulic systems across Port MPQ equipment, including stackers, reclaimers, conveyors, ship loaders, and auxiliary equipment.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair hydraulic components such as pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, accumulators, hoses, and filtration systems.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with OEM specifications, engineering standards, and maintenance procedures.
- Execute maintenance tasks efficiently to minimize downtime and ensure continuous equipment operation.
- Conduct routine inspections of hydraulic systems to detect wear, leaks, contamination, or performance degradation.
- Monitor system parameters including pressure, flow, and temperature to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform oil analysis, contamination control, and filtration management to maintain hydraulic fluid integrity.
- Identify early signs of potential failures and implement corrective actions proactively.
- Diagnose hydraulic system faults including pressure loss, leakage, overheating, and control failures.
- Use systematic troubleshooting techniques to identify root causes of hydraulic issues.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring failures and implement long-term corrective measures.
- Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams to resolve integrated equipment faults.
- Ensure hydraulic systems operate efficiently and meet performance requirements.
- Optimize system settings, pressure levels, and flow control to improve efficiency and reduce energy losses.
- Recommend and implement modifications or upgrades to improve system reliability and lifespan.
- Support operational teams in achieving optimal equipment performance.
- Install and commission hydraulic systems and components for new or upgraded equipment.
- Verify correct assembly, alignment, and integration of hydraulic components.
- Support testing, flushing, and system commissioning activities prior to operational handover.
- Ensure safe and controlled system startup following installation or maintenance activities.
- Record maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs in the maintenance management system (e.g., SAP).
- Maintain accurate records of hydraulic system performance, defects, and corrective actions.
- Update technical documentation including schematics, manuals, and maintenance procedures.
- Provide feedback to engineering teams for continuous improvement.
- Identify and report requirements for hydraulic spare parts, consumables, and specialized tools.
- Ensure availability of critical components to support maintenance activities.
- Monitor usage and condition of hydraulic consumables, including filters and oils.
- Support inventory optimization to prevent shortages and excess stock.
- Perform all hydraulic maintenance activities in strict compliance with HSE policies and procedures.
- Apply lockout/tagout (LOTO) and ensure safe isolation of hydraulic and mechanical energy sources.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with high-pressure hydraulic systems.
- Conduct hazard assessments and participate in safety audits and toolbox talks.
- Promote a strong safety culture with zero tolerance for unsafe practices.
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and operations teams to support equipment performance.
- Provide technical support and guidance to technicians and maintenance personnel.
- Mentor and transfer knowledge to local workforce and junior team members.
- Maintain clear communication and coordination across all work activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve hydraulic system reliability, efficiency, and maintenance practices.
- Support implementation of predictive maintenance and condition-based monitoring strategies.
- Contribute to equipment reliability programs and operational excellence initiatives.
- Capture lessons learned and implement best practices across maintenance teams.

Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge
Technical Diploma or Trade Certification in Hydraulics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in hydraulic maintenance within mining, port operations, or heavy industrial environments
- Proven experience working with high-pressure hydraulic systems and bulk material handling equipment
- Hydraulic systems design, operation, and maintenance
- Pumps, valves, cylinders, accumulators, and control systems
- Hydraulic schematics and system diagnostics
- Fluid management, filtration, and contamination control
- Preventive and predictive maintenance techniques

Working Conditions

- Expatriate rotational assignment

- Participate in health and safety committees or meetings as required, providing input and suggestions for improving workplace safety.
- Keep accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities as required by company policy and regulations.
