Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities / KPI’s
Operational Technology Systems Management
Install, configure, and maintain OT systems including SCADA, DCS, PLCs, and HMI platforms
Ensure continuous availability and reliability of automation and control systems
Conduct system diagnostics and root cause analysis for faults and failures
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Provide advanced troubleshooting support for PLCs, instrumentation, and control networks
Respond promptly to system breakdowns to minimize downtime
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities
Support technicians with complex technical issues
Automation & Process Optimization
Analyze control system performance and plant data to identify improvements
Optimize control logic and system configuration for efficiency and throughput
Support commissioning and testing of new systems and upgrades
Cybersecurity & System Integrity
Implement and maintain OT cybersecurity controls in line with company policies
Monitor for vulnerabilities, threats, and unauthorized access
Ensure secure system configurations, updates, and patch management
Network & Infrastructure Support
Maintain industrial network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls)
Ensure reliable communication between OT systems and plant equipment
Diagnose and resolve network-related operational issues
Project Support & Implementation
Participate in system upgrades, expansions, and new installations
Assist in design, specification, and evaluation of OT solutions
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate system documentation and network architecture records
Track system incidents, failures, and maintenance activities
Prepare technical reports and performance summaries
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering teams
Provide technical guidance and support across departments
Liaise with vendors and service providers
Training & Knowledge Transfer
Train operators and maintenance teams on OT systems
Develop SOPs, manuals, and technical documentation
Promote knowledge sharing and continuous learning
Compliance & Standards
Ensure adherence to company standards, policies, and regulatory requirements
Follow change management procedures for all system modifications
Support internal and external audits
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Comply with all safety policies and procedures
Conduct risk assessments before work execution
Follow lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures
Report hazards and participate in incident investigations
Promote a strong safety culture and environmental compliance
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
System uptime and availability
Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)
Number of system failures and incidents
Preventive maintenance compliance rate
Cybersecurity compliance level

Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Information Technology, or related field
Experience
Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in industrial automation or operational technology
Experience in mining, processing plants, or heavy industry (preferred)
Proven experience with SCADA, PLC, and control systems
Technical Knowledge
Industrial Control Systems (ICS), PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen Bradley)
SCADA/DCS systems and HMI platforms
Industrial networking and communication protocols
Cybersecurity in OT environments
Instrumentation and process control systems
Data monitoring and analytics tools (advantage)

Exposure to industrial and field environments
May require standby/on-call duty for critical system support
Health and Safety
Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, standards, and procedures.
Participate in health, safety and environment training programs to understand potential hazards, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
Report any health, safety and environmental concerns, incidents, or near misses promptly to the designated supervisor or safety officer.
Assist in identifying workplace hazards and participate in risk assessments to minimize risks to personal health and safety.
Wear appropriate PPE as required for specific tasks or environments and ensure that it is maintained and used correctly.
Be familiar with emergency response procedures, including evacuation routes, assembly points, and first aid protocols.
Follow established safe work practices and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, or illnesses.
Operate machinery, tools, and equipment safely, following manufacturer's instructions and the AML safety guidelines.
Maintain a clean and orderly workspace to reduce hazards and prevent accidents.
Promote a culture of health and safety awareness among coworkers by encouraging safe behaviors and reporting unsafe conditions.
Participate in health and safety committees or meetings as required, providing input and suggestions for improving workplace safety.
Keep accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities as required by company policy and regulations.
Environment
Oversee and monitor the environmental performance of your department's functions, ensuring high levels of awareness and compliance with company environmental policies and relevant environmental laws.
Regularly review environmental performance metrics and indicators to track progress, identify trends, and address areas for improvement.
Ensure all environmental incidents are reported promptly and investigated thoroughly in line with company policies and legal requirements.
Uphold a culture of environmental responsibility and compliance within the organization by setting clear expectations for incident reporting and response at all levels.
Collaborate with the Environment team to identify opportunities for environmental improvement and develop strategic programs to enhance sustainability practices.
