Job Description
Tail Pulley & Conveyor System Maintenance
- • Oversee day-to-day maintenance of all tail pulleys, drive pulleys, take-up systems, and conveyor components at the port.
- • Ensure proper alignment, belt tracking, lubrication, and tensioning of conveyor belts.
- • Conduct routine inspections and supervise corrective actions to prevent belt failures or unscheduled downtime.
- • Confirm quality of maintenance tasks before equipment is returned to service.
- • Lead major repair tasks such as pulley changeouts, bearing replacements, belt repairs, and mechanical troubleshooting.
Reliability & Asset Management
- • Maintain accurate records of equipment condition, failures, service history, and component lifecycles.
- • Lead root-cause analysis for mechanical failures, premature wear, or belt alignment issues.
- • Ensure preventive maintenance plans are updated, optimized, and executed on schedule.
- • Identify reliability bottlenecks and implement engineering or procedural improvements.
- • Maintain accurate CMMS entries and ensure job closures and work orders are properly documented.
Safety & Compliance
- • Enforce AML safety procedures including lockout/tagout, confined space entry, working-at-height, and pulley guarding requirements.
- • Conduct toolbox talks and mechanical maintenance safety briefings daily.
- • Participate in incident investigations and lead corrective action implementation.
- • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols related to heavy rotating equipment.
- • Promote a strong safety culture within the mechanical maintenance team.
Planning & Coordination
- • Plan and coordinate maintenance shutdown activities involving conveyors and pulley systems.
- • Work closely with Port Operations, Electrical Maintenance, Reliability Engineering, and the Ship Loading Team to schedule and prioritize maintenance tasks.
- • Ensure material flow requirements are aligned with maintenance windows to minimize downtime.
- • Manage resources including manpower, tools, spares, and contractor support.
Team Leadership & Supervision
- • Lead mechanical supervisors, technicians, and assistants in daily work execution.
- • Conduct competency assessments and support training needs for mechanical personnel.
- • Allocate tasks efficiently and ensure strong team productivity and work discipline.
- • Foster teamwork, communication, and a performance-based work culture.
KPIs
- • Conveyor and pulley system availability and operational readiness.
- • Compliance with preventive maintenance schedules.
- • Reduction in unplanned conveyor stoppages or belt alignment issues.
- • Safety performance indicators including incident rates and audit outcomes.
- • Quality of maintenance work and documentation.
- • Timeliness and accuracy of CMMS records.
