Job Description

Operational & Warehouse Management

1.1. Oversees all warehouse operations including receiving, storage, issuing, binning, loading, and unloading of materials.

1.2. Ensure warehouse control measures are implemented to safeguard company assets and inventory.

1.3. Plan, coordinate, and control daily, weekly, and monthly warehouse operational activities.

1.4. Manage storage and bin location allocation for new and existing stock items in line with warehouse policies.

1.5. Maintain warehouse housekeeping to a high standard (5 Star / Best Practice).

Inventory & Materials Control

2.1. Ensure accurate issuing and receiving materials in accordance with company policies and procedures.

2.2. Plan and conduct regular stock takes and cycle counts across all warehouse locations.

2.3. Ensure physical stock levels align with system inventory (SAP or equivalent ERP).

2.4. Monitor stock levels and proactively advise Procurement on potential shortages or stock out risks.

2.5. Control and manage fuel stock supply and distribution to operational areas.

2.6. Material discrepancy reporting and resolution with procurement team.

People Management & Development

3.1. Supervise, coach, and managing warehouse personnel (shift planning, performance, attendance).

3.2. Hold regular team meetings to address operational issues, safety matters, and performance.

3.3. Identify training needs and coordinate technical and safety training for warehouse staff.

3.4. Enforce discipline fairly and in line with company policies and Labor regulations.

Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement

4.1. Prepare and submit monthly warehouse performance, inventory, and KPI reports.

4.2. Liaise with mining, maintenance, procurement, logistics, and finance departments to ensure service delivery.

4.3. Support audits (internal and external) related to materials, stock, and compliance.

4.4. Carry out special assignments or projects as directed by line management.

Operational KPIs

  • Inventory accuracy rate (% variance between physical and system stock)
  • Stock out incidents and critical item availability
  • On time issuing and receiving performance
  • Warehouse housekeeping audit score

Financial KPIs

  • Stock holding value vs. approved budget
  • Reduction in obsolete or slow-moving inventory
  • Losses due to damage, theft, or write offs

People & Performance KPIs

  • Staff attendance and productivity rates
  • Training completion and competence compliance
  • Employee disciplinary cases managed within policy timelines

Reporting & Governance KPIs

  • Timely submission of monthly warehouse and KPI reports
  • Accuracy of management and audit reporting data

Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge

Education

  • Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Warehousing, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 5-10 years' experience in warehousing, materials management, or inventory control.
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Experience in iron ore mining or heavy industry is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in remote or developing country environments is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of mining safety regulations and material handling best practices.
  • Proven experience with ERP systems (SAP or equivalent)

Working Conditions

  • Mine site and warehouse-based role.

  • Interaction with contractors, suppliers, and multiple internal stakeholders.

Health and Safety

1.1. Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, standards, and procedures.

1.2. Participate in health, safety and environment training programs to understand potential hazards, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.

1.3. Report any health, safety and environmental concerns, incidents, or near misses promptly to the designated supervisor or safety officer.

1.4. Assist in identifying workplace hazards and participate in risk assessments to minimize risks to personal health and safety.

1.5. Wear appropriate PPE as required for specific tasks or environments and ensure that it is maintained and used correctly.

1.6. Be familiar with emergency response procedures, including evacuation routes, assembly points, and first aid protocols.

1.7. Follow established safe work practices and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, or illnesses.

1.8. Operate machinery, tools, and equipment safely, following manufacturer's instructions and the AML safety guidelines.

1.9. Maintain a clean and orderly workspace to reduce hazards and prevent accidents.

1.9.1. Promote a culture of health and safety awareness among coworkers by encouraging safe behaviors and reporting unsafe conditions.

1.9.2. Participate in health and safety committees or meetings as required, providing input and suggestions for improving workplace safety.

1.9.3. Keep accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities as required by company policy and regulations.

Environment

1.1. Oversee and monitor the environmental performance of your department's functions, ensuring high levels of awareness and compliance with company environmental policies and relevant environmental laws.

1.2. Regularly review environmental performance metrics and indicators to track progress, identify trends, and address areas for improvement.

1.3. Ensure all environmental incidents are reported promptly and investigated thoroughly in line with company policies and legal requirements.

1.4. Uphold a culture of environmental responsibility and compliance within the organization by setting clear expectations for incident reporting and response at all levels.

1.5. Collaborate with the Environment team to identify opportunities for environmental improvement and develop strategic programs to enhance sustainability practices.
