JOB DESCRIPTION: OPERATIONS MANAGER

Position Title Operations Manager

Department Operations – Quarry & Crushing Plant
Location Zarzone Town, District 1, Margibi County, Liberia
Employment Type Full-Time, On-Site
Experience Required 3–5 years in a relevant operations, quarry, or industrial production role

POSITION SUMMARY

The Operations Manager serves as the senior on-site leader for Edrine Rock Crusher Inc., responsible for the day-to-day management of quarrying and crushing plant activities. This role ensures that production targets, safety standards, equipment reliability, and workforce performance are all managed effectively on-site, while reporting directly to the General Manager on operational performance, challenges, and improvement plans.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the on-site leader for all operational activities at the quarry and crushing plant, ensuring smooth daily execution of production plans.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise crushing, screening, loading, and material handling operations to meet daily and monthly production targets.
  • Oversee plant staff, supervisors, equipment operators, and support personnel, ensuring clear task assignment, accountability, and performance monitoring.
  • Monitor equipment performance and coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed.
  • Enforce workplace health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards, ensuring compliance with company policy and Liberian regulatory requirements.
  • Track and report daily production volumes, fuel and material consumption, equipment utilization, and operational costs.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency, output quality, and cost control.
  • Coordinate with logistics and transport teams to ensure timely dispatch and delivery of crushed materials to customers and project sites.
  • Manage on-site inventory of spare parts, fuel, and consumables, working with procurement to avoid production stoppages.
  • Prepare and submit regular operational reports (daily, weekly, and monthly) to the General Manager, highlighting performance, incidents, and recommendations.
  • Ensure proper record-keeping of production data, maintenance logs, incident reports, and staff attendance.
  • Lead, train, and mentor plant supervisors and operators to build a capable and disciplined on-site workforce.
  • Liaise with local community leaders and authorities as needed to maintain good community and stakeholder relations.
  • Respond promptly to operational emergencies, equipment breakdowns, or safety incidents, escalating to the General Manager as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager in support of overall business objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in operations management, preferably within quarrying, mining, crushing plants, construction materials, or a related industrial/production environment.
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising production teams and managing heavy equipment operations.
  • Working knowledge of crushing plant machinery, quarry operations, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance requirements in an industrial or quarry setting.
  • Proven ability to plan and manage daily production schedules against targets.
  • Experience with basic reporting and record-keeping systems (manual or computerized).

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Strong on-site leadership and team management skills, with the ability to direct and motivate a diverse workforce.
  • Sound decision-making and problem-solving ability, particularly under production pressure or during equipment issues.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports for management.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and reliability in managing company resources.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in tracking production, costs, and maintenance.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding, outdoor industrial environment.
  • Basic computer literacy (spreadsheets, email, reporting tools) is an advantage.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This is a full-time, on-site position based at the Edrine Rock Crusher Inc. quarry and plant in Zarzone Town, District 1, Margibi County.
  • The role requires regular presence on the plant floor and quarry site, including exposure to dust, noise, and outdoor conditions typical of a crushing/quarrying operation.
  • May require availability beyond standard hours to address urgent operational or safety matters.
