Job Title Welder

Location Zarzone Town, District 1, Margibi County, Liberia
Employment Type Full-Time, On-Site
Experience Required 2 – 5 years of relevant welding/fabrication experience

JOB SUMMARY

The Welder is responsible for the fabrication, repair, and maintenance of metal structures, equipment components, and machinery parts used across Edrine Rock Crusher Inc.’s quarry and crushing operations. As a front-line, on-site leader, the Welder ensures that structural and mechanical repairs are completed to a high standard, supports equipment uptime, and helps maintain a safe, well-functioning work site. The role reports directly to the General Manager and requires strong technical welding skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment in prioritizing repair work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as an on-site leader by setting a strong example of craftsmanship, safety, and professionalism for other fabrication and site personnel.
  • Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and repair of metal components, structures, chutes, hoppers, guards, and machine parts used in the crushing plant and quarry operations.
  • Select and apply appropriate welding methods (arc, MIG, TIG, gas welding) based on the material and repair requirements.
  • Inspect worn, cracked, or damaged equipment and structures to determine the best repair or fabrication approach.
  • Fabricate new parts, brackets, supports, and structural components from technical drawings, sketches, or verbal specifications.
  • Carry out routine and emergency welding repairs to minimize equipment downtime and keep production on schedule.
  • Coordinate with the Plant Manager/Crushing Supervisor and Excavator Mechanic to prioritize and schedule welding and fabrication work.
  • Maintain welding equipment, tools, and gas cylinders in safe, good working condition, and report any faults.
  • Maintain accurate records of repair and fabrication work completed, materials used, and time spent.
  • Ensure all welding and fabrication work is carried out in compliance with safety standards and site procedures, including proper use of PPE and fire safety precautions.
  • Train and guide junior welders or general workers assisting with fabrication tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe welding/fabrication work area at all times.
  • Carry out any other duties as reasonably assigned by the General Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Technical/vocational certificate or diploma in Welding, Fabrication, or a related trade.
  • 2 – 5 years of proven experience as a welder/fabricator, preferably within a quarry, mining, construction, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in multiple welding techniques, including arc welding, MIG, and/or TIG welding.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and repair specifications.
  • Knowledge of metal properties and appropriate welding/fabrication methods for different materials and thicknesses.
  • Familiarity with welding safety standards, PPE requirements, and fire prevention practices.

  • Excellent hands-on welding and fabrication skills with strong attention to detail and finish quality.
  • High level of reliability, punctuality, and personal accountability.
  • Good communication skills for coordinating with supervisors, mechanics, and site teams.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to manage demanding, hands-on repair and fabrication work in an outdoor quarry environment.
  • Honesty and integrity in handling company tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment during urgent or emergency repair situations.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Based on-site at the Edrine Rock Crusher Inc. quarry in Zarzone Town, District 1, Margibi County, working primarily in the workshop and out on the active quarry floor.
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions, dust, noise, heat, sparks, and heavy machinery typical of a quarry and fabrication environment.
  • May require early morning, evening, or occasional weekend work to respond to equipment breakdowns and maintain production schedules.
  • Adherence to all site safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding-specific safety gear, is mandatory.
